Deepavali 2012

DEEPAVALI brings happiness in me!

I still remember the Deepavali during my young age! I'm the most excited person in my house! About 1 months before Deepavali, I will sit and choose cookies recipes to make with my mother! We use to do a lot of cookies and Indian traditional food like muruku, omapodi & achi muruku" !

I will push and remind again and again my father about cleaning the house! I still can remember the time when both of us clean the house together! It's such a fun! My father is very strict person but it's somehow fun to clean the house with him! I can still remember he will wipe back what I have wiped . He will tell not so clean....... and my mother will be complaining of he will never finish cleaning the house unless he shut his "magnifier" eyes! Both mother and me use to laugh! hahhaha.....that's hilarious!

Two to three days before Deepavali I use to roam inside the bush near my house to find branches! Guess for what? I will do decoration using the branches. I will hang Deepavali greeting cards, some homemade Deepavali toys and add some lights! It's Awesome! My siblings use to call it "Deepavali tree" !

On the eve of Deepavali I will make "kolam" and final decoration touch up! My siblings use to look at me like an interior designer! gheee......!

Thinking of all that bring smile to me till now!

Now life is so different. Everyone is busy! I myself can't make it to clean the house with my father. But some of the tradition still on going! I still browse thru Internet for cookies recipes 1 month before Deepavali!!

This year I did Ghee cookies, chocolate chips cookies, nestum cookies and peanut butter cookies ! I was away and very busy until 1 week left for Deepavali this year! I just can't sleep at night when I start to think when can I finish doing the cookies since I'm left exactly 1 week before Deepavali! Everyday after work I try to make some and I manage to finish all as my plan! I also did 4 cakes. Vegetarian chocolate cake, Vegetarian orange cake, Carrot cake and chiffon cake! "Phew! Finally I did it!"....... That's what I can tell on the eve of Deepavali. I finish making cookies and cakes for my house and my in law's house! If you ask me, I don't know how I manage to make all in 1 week!

Deepavali eve and Deepavali 1st day was good in my in law house. My son had fun as usual! On the 2nd day we went back my hometown. We had big family gathering there!

As usual mother cooked very nice food and father was so busy with the grand kids!

As every year, the "kolam" that my mother made on the eve of Deepavali last only until the 2nd day evening! The kids including my son were just so curious of the colourful  "Rangooli kolam"! They enjoyed each and every moment of the Deepavali!

Fire crackers were heard everywhere!

I never snap many photos this year for Deepavali as remembrance but the fun remains forever in me.

Now that I'm back to work.....I feel so lazy to work after so much fun! hahhahaa.....
