Deepavali this year was really good!
On the eve of Deepavali, we went to my Inlaw house. On Deepavali day we had oil bath and went to temple. All of us were wearing traditional Indian costume. My son was in the centre of attention since he is the only grandchild (as for now) . He had good pampering as usual! Anyway he is taken care since baby by his grandmother so no doubt he always have special attention there!
2nd day we went back to my hometown. I manage to meet my sibling and their family. We had very nice family gathering after so long! Children happily played fire crackers and "bunga api"! They look so happy meeting each others after long gap.
Mother's cooked food was so delicious! She prepared mutton "varuval" which is our favorite! Her "Muruku" finished on the day itself!
There were so many cookies and cakes! I baked chocolate cake and Vegetarian carrot cake. I did bake 4 types of cookies too! ( ghee cookies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate cookies and Almond cookies) .
My father did all the marketing and bought fresh fish for dinnerl! All the grandchildren were practically around him playing! I just wonder how this could be..... My father was always very stern person who concentrate so much in our studies those days! But now he is totally different person altogether! May be he is satisfied with our achievement!
We came back yesterday and today I'm back to work! All the 6 days of celebration and family gathering is like a dream for me now! Really had good time and the memories will remain forever.
I'm looking forward for more family gathering in near future!

During Deepavali, my neighbours kids played with fire crackers and they were running around the neighbourhood at 12:00 midnight, dress in their best! I guess children are most happy during such festive times. Now that your father has been promoted to 'datuk' status, there is a saying that grandpas will become more jovial and pamper their grandkids, so now the job of being the stern and strict guardian goes to the their children (i.e. the grandkids' parents).
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late comment but it does sound like loads of fun! Talking about stern fathers, I think they're all like that when they are bringing up their own kids but they soften with age. Mine is also like that.

You're so right! My father pamper the kids so much that sometimes i have to scold the kids due to the naughtiness! ;-)
